Toyota lovers from all over Ireland met up in Mondello park last Friday to celebrate AE86 Day!!
Amazing Cars, Amazing weather(for once!) and great people…. this is how we celebrated the beloved Hachi Roku Irish style…….

You may have seen this photo bouncing about the interweb before…

Well I took that at an 86 meet before the end of last year at Caseys in Tullow. Some of you will already know the cars and owners (Eoin Tracy being the owner and builder of the tuned 20V version on the left, and Derek Middelton being the owner and maintainer of the original 16V version on the right).
The best thing about the 86 scene in Ireland is the variety! From heavily tuned versions to standard original spec cars, Jap imports, Uk specs, drift cams, track cars, rally cars. Ones that have been restored from the ground up and ones that get slapped regularly off the pit walls in mondello…… we have them all!!!
These photos pay a small homage to the great variety in the 86 scene in this country… il let them speak for themselves
I spy another R/O/B…
After what seemed to be a long winter, it was finally time for AE86irls first meet of 2012
It was held in Midway court in Portlaoise, a pretty central spot for everyone.
We parked up, did some chatting, drank some tea, did some more chatting and then we went home, (you see us 86 owners arn’t all so bad)
. It was a really enjoyable day, with great atmosphere, great people and of course great cars!!

John’s 8a9 corolla has to be seen to be appreciated, looks like it just rolled out of the factory!!

A visit carland86 to was one of my priorities during my recent visit to Japan. So after a 2 hour shinkansen trip from Tokyo to Kyoto….. I was greeted by this …..
Worth the trip im sure you will agree………
Carland is one of the most famous AE86 specialist shops in Japan, known worldwide by AE86 enthuiasts. They specialise in restoring and maintaining Levins and Truenos and the cars in the forecourt were a true testament to the expert work they do……
There were a few initial D replica trueno’s for sale… this one being practically identical…..
Including the very important cup of water…… essential for any tofu delivery expert!!
;
Let all other beach goers know your a true 86 enthusiast with this Initial D towel!!
Replica of Keiichi Tsuchiya 86….
;
Hello kitty and an 80′s CD….. The owner of this Levin who im presuming is female…… RULES!!
;
Very happy lady!!!
;
Here’s a quick vlog Kyle made if you want to see more from carland….
Hiromi Kajikuma and her awesome pink 86 = HERO!!!!
Needless to say she is an idol to me and most of the other 86 ladies here in Ireland…. On my recent trip to Japan I had the pleasure of visiting Windsauto and got to see her famous Hachi Roku…
But not only that…. on our last night there (after a long Shinkansen journey back from Carland in Kyoto.. post about that coming soon) I got to meet the lady herself and go for dinner!! Being chauffeured on back roads of Japan by AE86 royalty..(!!!).. needless to say I still have a bruise on my arm from pinching myself!! (thanks again to Chris and Miki for arranging it)
She is without a doubt one of the coolest ladies I have ever met!! See in again in August Hiromi for 86 day….hopefully !!
(Repp’in for AE86irl
